The celebs experience bushtucker trials, creepy crawlies and rationed food for a maximum of 3 weeks.
So, you might be wondering why on earth they opt in for such a show. Well, it turns out I’m a Celeb can have a huge impact on a celeb’s career, transforming them from a has been, to the nation’s sweetheart.
We decided to look into just how much money celebrities make post-show, and compiled a list of the top earning I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here contestants since it first aired in 2002.
Interestingly, we revealed that contestants of the hit ITV show can expect to see their net worth rise an average of 455%. Scarlett Moffat has benefited most as a result of her appearance in the sixteenth series of the show back in 2016 with a net worth increase of 1567%.
Take a look at the full list below, there may be some surprising names in there!
The Gogglebox star has an estimated net worth of £1 million, after landing multiple TV presenting gigs and brand partnership deals as a result of winning the show.
Despite recent events that have seen her career take a nosedive, over the last three years Scarlett’s enjoyed presenting stints on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Beauty School Cop Outs, and the widely-criticised Channel 4’s The British Tribe Next Door.
Inbetweeners alum Emily Atack has seen her net worth increase by 710% to £6 million after she came second to Harry Redknap in 2018. Emily is currently hosting this years’ I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp and has presented other ITV shows including This Morning.
Made in Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo takes the third spot in the list with a net worth of £800,000 – an increase of 567%.
While Georgia is from a wealthy family, her own personal net worth before appearing on the show wasn’t a substantial amount.
Given the findings, this is what this year’s contestants could expect to be worth on average after leaving the jungle:
I’m a Celeb’s nineteenth series began on Sunday 17th November 2019, with the opening episode attracting 11 million viewers at its peak according to ITV.
Spencer James, founder of Whataretheodds.co.uk, said,
“Since the first season in 2002, I’m a Celeb has continued to increase in popularity, becoming one of the most watched British TV shows of all time. There just seems to be something about watching celebrities in discomfort that captivates the nation!
“So, why do these celebs put themselves in this position for three weeks? Our research shows just how much of a positive impact appearing on the show has on a celeb’s career, even if, as in Scarlett’s case, it ends up being short-lived! Some contestants have gone on to do absolutely nothing since the show while others have completely transformed flagging careers. It will be interesting to see how the contestants fair after their stint in the jungle this year!”
