Thomas Tuchel now favourite to take England Manager role
Thomas Tuchel is now the odds-on favorite to take the role.
Following recent developments, Tuchel has surged to the forefront of the betting market, with speculation intensifying around his potential appointment. Initially considered a long shot, with odds as high as 50/1 in early October, Tuchel’s odds have been dramatically slashed as talks with the FA reportedly progress.
With Pep Guardiola also in the mix and seeing his odds shorten following rumors of interest, the betting market has been dynamic.
Tuchel has now taken the lead as the clear favorite, leaving other contenders like Lee Carsley drifting further, especially after his recent comments and performances in the interim role.
As of now, Tuchel remains the frontrunner to become the next England manager, with punters closely watching any further developments.
Bet365’s Sports and Trading expert Steve Freeth commented: “There was strong backing for Pep Guardiola after rumors linking him to the role saw his odds shorten from 10/1 to 6/4 since Sunday night.
“However, once news broke that Tuchel – who was as high as 50/1 at the start of October – was in talks with the FA, the betting market went into overdrive, with punters quickly snapping up the 6/4 odds before they were slashed to 2/7.
“Meanwhile, Lee Carsley’s odds continue to lengthen after another lackluster post-match interview where he suggested his inexperience could hinder his chances of securing the role permanently.”
Carsley, appointed on an interim basis, led England to victories over the Republic of Ireland and Finland in his first two games, but his hopes of securing the position were dealt a blow after a 2-1 loss to Greece at Wembley.
Although England bounced back with a 3-1 win away against Finland, Carsley’s post-match comments once again raised doubts about his interest in taking the job beyond his interim tenure.
