If you would like to place a bet yourself, its important to take into consideration a number of factors.
The weather is extremely important as different horses run better on different surfaces.
When the going is ‘good’ that means that there has been rain and the surface is soft, muddy underfoot, while if the going is good or firm it suggests that the surface is dry or harder.
Normally that’s a good sign that the weather will be sunny.
Past runs are also an indicator to how a race will perform. Take a look at how the horse has run over previous course and distance.
Cheltenham punters are very shrewd and a short priced horse will surely be too difficult to beat.
Trainer form is extremely important as different yards may be in form.
Nicky Henderson for example has his horses set up for the Cheltenham Festival, so his horses are normally in tip top conditions.
If certain trainers horses are no doing so well it may be worth putting a line through them. There could be underlying factors to take into consideration such as colic at the yard etc.
